Bitcoin is currently trading at over $4,100 on Coinbase and most other major exchanges, after climbing nearly $500 over the past 24 hours. The current price represents a ~600% increase compared to just one year ago!
The relatively uneventful hard fork on August 1st, combined with the recent consensus to lock in SegWit (which paves the way for the Lightning Network) must have investors feeling bullish. Successful activation of SegWit (and later, Lightning) should remedy many of Bitcoin’s recent scalability issues, at least in the short term.
CB, what are your thoughts on the RX Vega? I’m running 1070’s and am not a fan of the RX cards, but I’m headed to the computer store to see if I can snag any.
I haven’t seen any mining performance tests from a reputable source yet. I’d expect them to perform somewhere in the 30-35 MH/s range, given their specs – and given that the cards are going for up to ~$1,000, they’re probably not going to be a top pick for mining (especially considering how much power they’re expected to draw).
There are some outrageous rumors out there that they’ll be capable of 50-70 MH/s or more, but take them with a grain of salt.
